If you are one to wear foundation, you might know how hard it is to find the right match. You know the perfect one that doesn’t clog your pores, isn’t cakey, isn’t so thick you look like a clown. Not to mention the difficulty of finding the right color that isn’t too light or too dark for your skin tone. I know there has to be a better way. I’ve tried almost every brand of liquid foundation; from the least expensive- L’oreal, Rimmel, Maybelline, Covergirl, to the more expensive-Mary Kay and MAC. I’m never really satisfied!
I thought, maybe I’ll try mineral foundation. My first adventure into the mineral world was L’oreal Bare Naturale. All in all, I like the line so I figured the mineral may not be so bad. Wrong! Maybe it was the tone, I don’t know. It was all wrong and you could actually see it on my skin! That’s breaking RULE #1 of Foundation application! Not to mention it made my dry skin look like a desert. Maybe in the future I’ll try a different color but for now I’m done with that.
After this disappointing adventure, I went back to wearing my liquid foundation L’oreal’s True Match.
A week ago, I stopped in the wonderful Sephora (awww…I hear the heavenly music) and decided to test out some mineral foundations. I was aiming to try Bare Minerals after constantly seeing their convincing infomercials. The make up artist applied the foundation ( I forgot the color). I loved the way it felt, very smooth. The artist (Maria) confided that although she likes Bare Minerals but Laura Mercier’s Mineral powder is the best.
I was convinced as well after comparing Bare Minerals on one side to Laura Mercier’s in Pure Honey on the other side of my face. Unfortunately, I already had spent money on clothes so I couldn’t put up another $32 +tax for the Mercier.
I didn’t leave empty handed and luckily got a sample of Bare Minerals so I was somewhat satisfied.
It was really tiny, but I’ve been using it for the past week and there is still some left! Another thing, I like the feel of mineral foundation compared to liquid and the blending is excellent. The only downfall is that if you’re into the “dewy look”, liquid is best.
Bare Minerals has been looking good but I think my love is the Laura Mercier. My search for a great foundation is over…hopefully!
